Westpac announces Disaster Relief Package

Westpac has announced a special disaster relief package for its customers who are victims of flooding caused by recent severe weather conditions in Fiji. Announced today by Westpac’s Regional Head for the Pacific, Kip Hanna, and to take effect immediately the relief package offers the following:

  • ‘Repayment Holiday’ for up to 3 months for existing home loans and investment property loans (that are not already subject to collection activity)

  • Temporary personal and business overdrafts for existing customers to allow access to emergency cash

  • Businesses with existing loans (that are not already subject to collection activity) can request deferral of principal repayments for up to 3 months

  • Businesses can request restructuring without incurring the usual bank establishment fees.

All requests are subject to existing credit policy and procedures.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and communities who have lost loved ones or are without homes or access to essentials like drinking water,” said Mr Hanna. “We’re here to help our customers at this time of need and we are offering a package that will hopefully provide relief to those who have been affected by these severe weather systems. We’re committed to helping in the moments that matter and we strongly encourage anyone affected by these tragic events to get in touch with our staff to discuss ways we can ease the burden.”

Westpac customers who wish to take advantage of these relief measures should contact their Relationship Manager or local branch, or call the Westpac Customer Service Call Centre on 132 032.
